Day 10: Strange Situations

Day of my 30 Days of Writing About Writing

***

What are some really weird situations your characters have been in? Everything from serious canon scenes to meme questions counts!

By far my favorite situation I’ve put any of my characters into is Lucian, near the end of God-Chosen. You really don’t need any background for it, so here you go:

“Well with four angels and the two of us, I think those hatchlings are more than outmatched.” Lucian regained his confidence. Amara’s presence had no small part in that.

“Four?”

“Yeah, Bria, Miha, Zéra, and the other female angel, the one with the crossbow. I think she went after X’iahn, too.” Lucian counted the four names on his fingers.

“That was Zéra.” Amara stared at him.

“I thought Zéra was male,” Lucian blinked and tried to recall what he knew about archangels.

“Zéra is male, Lucian,” the start of a smile appeared on Amara’s face.

“That makes no sense, she was wearing a… a dress…” Oh don’t tell me.

“Yes Lucian, he was.” Amara fought the smile that spread across her face.

Lucian stared at her, struggling with the implications. I… I thought his dress was pretty…

Hizaki-hime

Hizaki, rhythm guitarist from the Japanese visual-kei band Versailles

Inspired, in no small part, by Hizaki from Versailles. That is probably my favorite scene in the entire novel.

The only other exceptionally awkward moment that comes to mind is in my unnamed novel when Kale realizes that even though Natiae has lived for over three decades, she is only 15 or 16 years of age. He, of course, learns this after he’s convinced the senate that Natiae is a woman of great valor and has the ability to save the human race from destruction.

Tomorrow’s question: Who is your favorite character to write? Least favorite?
